No figure here is a forecast

Every projection is arithmetic applied to assumptions you entered. The calculators do not predict market returns, inflation or anything else, and the default values in the forms are round starting points chosen so the fields are not empty — they are not estimates of what will happen.

Past performance does not indicate future results. Investments can fall as well as rise and you may get back less than you put in. Real returns arrive unevenly, and the order in which they arrive can change outcomes dramatically — which the smooth curves here cannot show.

What the calculators leave out

Taxes, state and workplace pensions, currency movements, transaction costs, product-specific rules and the variability of real returns are all outside what these tools model. Any of them can change the answer materially. The method page lists the omissions in full.

Accuracy

The arithmetic is tested and is believed to be correct, but it is provided without warranty of any kind. Errors are possible. Do not rely on any figure here as the sole basis for a financial decision, and verify anything that matters. If you find something wrong, please write to hello@investinglite.com.
